In Geography lessons here at Infiniti, our intention is to encourage pupils to explore and understand the world around them - recognising differences in cultures, political systems, economies, landscapes, and environments across the globe, and exploring the links between them. We will encourage the students to ask appropriate questions about the world and investigate how humans interact with each other and the planet. It is also our intention to help the students become more socially and environmentally sensitive, better informed, and more responsible as citizens.
We offer a broad geography curriculum that aligns with the National Curriculum. The topics will cover both physical and human aspects of geography. We intend to develop pupils’ curiosity and a fascination with the world that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. The curriculum offers a range of opportunities for investigating different places on a local and global scale. Lessons will also provide variety, opportunities for consolidation, and challenges, to ensure both interest and progress in the subject. We will use local field studies and visits to relevant places of interest to complement work in the classroom.
Students will revisit a topic several times throughout their school careers. This will allow key information to be reinforced and solidified each time the student revisits the subject matter. This will also allow a logical progression from simplistic ideas to complicated ideas, and students will be encouraged to apply the early knowledge to later objectives.
